14th annual Legends Ride roars out of downtown Deadwood

DEADWOOD, S.D. — The “ride that rocks” taking off from downtown Deadwood Monday afternoon.

Bikers packing into Outlaw Square by the hundreds, lining up in front of the Silverado Franklin on Main Street.

An auction hosted by the Sturgis Buffalo Chip raising money for three local charities – Treasured Lives, Special Olympics South Dakota, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame.

The Legends Ride has raised more than half-a-million dollars for charity since it’s inception in 2008.

Riders from the Bagger Racing League roaring into Deadwood to kick off the event.

“Anytime you have an opportunity to ride some race bikes through the Black Hills you gotta seize the moment,” says Rob Buydos, founder of Bagger Racing League.

The 14th annual charity ride bringing in a host of big names – like former Packers offensive tackle Earl Dotson, actor Tom Berenger, and the world’s fastest female road racer, Patricia Fernandez.

“I’m really excited to be here – I’ve actually never been to Sturgis or participated in a rally like this,” Fernandez says.

And making a special entrance, Governor Kristi Noem, riding in on her horse, Iceman, advocating for the mission of the Treasured Lives organization.

“And I want South Dakota to be the state that stands the most for protecting people from the tragedy of human trafficking,” Noem says.

The group of several hundred riding from downtown Deadwood to the Buffalo Chip, where they were met with a special reception and live entertainment.
