RAPID CITY, S.D. — The 211 Helpline Center has joined with the South Dakota Department of Health to provide free Lyft rides for people trying to get to their COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
This service would be for anyone in Phase 1 who has an appointment but might not have a way to get to there.
To schedule a ride, just dial 2-1-1.
West River, rides are available right now to anyone within 20 miles of Rapid City.
“We do ask that you try to call at least 24 hours in advance just to make sure we have enough time and make sure that there is Lyft capacity, and then you can schedule up to seven days in advance, and so if your appointment is on Friday of this week, you can call right now and get that ride scheduled today,” said Betsy Schuster, Vice President of Program Development at the 211 Helpline Center.
This is the first week for the Lyft program, and rides are being scheduled – again – free of charge.
