Black Hills Party Pedaler has been hosting parties on wheels in Rapid City since 2016. Samantha Caillier, manager of Black Hills Party Pedaler, described the vehicle as an eight pedaling-seat bike with a three-seat bench in the back. Partiers hop on the bike and pedal their way through Downtown Rapid City.
“So our bike is actually a little unique,” said Caillier. “So a lot of those other bikes that are similar to ours are pedaling-only and just people-powered, if you will. Ours actually has an electrical motor, so if you get a little tired, we can give you a little bit of a break.”
Rides on the Black Hills Party Pedaler often include trivia games, music and drinks.
“I think it’s just like the atmosphere that we bring when we drive around downtown,” said Caillier. “Everybody can see us. We’re all waving and everybody’s having a wonderful time, so I think that really pulls people in like, ‘Oh, they’re having fun, I want to go do that.'”
Black Hills Party Pedaler tours run all day long, beginning at 10 a.m.. Every ride is two hours long, and the last ride of the day begins at 8 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m..
By booking a ride on the party pedaler, visitors get access to exclusive specials at many local bars downtown.
“So we’re really lucky that we’ve been able to partner with a lot of the local bars downtown, and they give us unique specials to the Black Hills Party Pedaler,” said Caillier. “You don’t get them just for being a regular customer, only to come with us.”
The Black Hills Party Pedaler offers a variety of beverages, so everyone on the ride can enjoy a drink as they make their way through the city.
“You really get the ultimate experience by coming on the party pedaler,” said Caillier. “Once you book, you come in and then you get to pick from our wide selection of beer and we really have something for everybody. I mean, we have your, you know, Bud Light, Coors Light, then we have your higher end and we’ve got some Ciroc mixed drinks. We’ve been really lucky with our distributors, they always have what’s popular, so we try and keep that in stock.”
Caillier encourages anyone on the fence about the party pedaler to give it a try, even if they’re not sure it’s their cup of tea.
“We always get a lot of people that are really hesitant at first, especially when they weren’t exactly told what they were getting themselves into— Sometimes their friends roped them in, but afterwards, even though they might have started a little skeptical, afterwards, it’s always, ‘That was so much fun. I can’t wait to do it again.'”
