Jerrid Geving, Founder and President of Sacred Mountain Retreat Center, says, “We at Sacred Mountain have a goal to save lives, save marriages and save jobs. Our slogan is ‘Where the hills heal the heroes.’ And I believe that this area truly does that. Six years ago, I just was helping with a lot of different nonprofits meeting and hearing stories from veterans [and] first responders. And I just felt that there was a huge need for a program where these men and women that have paid the ultimate sacrifice could go for some quiet time.”
Sacred Mountain Retreat Center brings in people suffering from PTS, Anxiety or Depression for a 7-day program. Located about 12 miles south of Deadwood, Sacred Mountain Retreat is trying to raise money, but also trying to spread awareness.
Geving continues, “We started a Puppy’s Healing Heroes program in 2020. We’ve given 16 puppies away so far that have went to service members.”
Sacred Mountain Retreat Center is also raffling off a 1933 Chevy Hotrod that was donated by a very generous donor. Tickets are $50 a piece or three for $100. The raffle drawing will occur early next year. On February 10, 2023, they will be hosting their fifth annual gala in Deadwood. Geving explains, “We bring in some amazing speakers, some great honor heroes, and it’s just a fun filled night. So we’re hoping that we can do the drawing right around then.”
