RAPID CITY, S.D. — In June 1999, 17-year-old Joshua Haugen perished in a jet ski accident at Pactola Reservoir, and his body was recovered in August 2000 by the Rapid City Pennington County Water Rescue Team.
Joshua’s family created the JRH Memorial Fundraiser to help raise awareness on water safety and raise money for the Water Rescue Team. Last year they raised $1,600 for the team and are hoping to double that amount this year.
The fundraiser will take place in the parking lot of Forest Products Distributors (4200 Beach Drive) at Canyon Lake Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 5, with water rescue demonstrations, food trucks, games, and live music.
