“A Weather Legacy: Half a Century on the Job” a book by Bob Riggio

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Chief Meteorologist Bob Riggio was part of a book signing event at the Rushmore Mall for a paperback 20 years in the making.

“A Weather Legacy: Half a Century on the Job” details the way weather fits into the tapestry of our lives, with a special focus on the ever-changing weather patterns here in Rapid City. In his book, Bob recounts the “perfect storm” which made way for the catastrophic 1972 Flood in the Black Hills and also puts pen to paper on being stuck overnight at the NewsCenter1 station during winter storm Atlas.

Bob says he hopes readers will gain a different insight on the ebb and flow of weather.

“I don’t want people to be afraid of weather that kind of upsets me. I want people to just sit back and enjoy weather. Enjoy the impact weather has on their everyday lives. Enjoy mother nature,” said Bob Riggio.

Also inscribed is the time Bob did his weathercast live from the very peak of Mount Rushmore during a July 4 celebration.
