RAPID CITY, S.D. — More than two years price of work have gone into the Block 5 growth at the nook of Sixth and St. Joseph Streets in Rapid City.
The plan? Take what’s now a parking zone and switch it into a ten story constructing with a resort, residence lofts and retail house.
“It’s going to convey extra folks residing 24/7, 365 in downtown, which will convey extra {dollars} into the downtown district, extra taxes, etcetera,” says Elevate Rapid City President and CEO Tom Johnson. “I believe there’s a chance for us to diversify our tax base as nicely with the varieties of companies we’ve seen downtown.”
The undertaking tackled its closing hurdles with the Rapid City Common Council on Monday, with votes on the tax increment finance district boundary and undertaking plan.
“We’re actually enthusiastic about the addition of new housing models downtown,” says Sarah Hanzel, the Rapid City planning initiatives division supervisor. “We haven’t heard about particular tenancies; I believe the builders are figuring out these particulars, however total we’re actually enthusiastic about this dynamic combine of items.”
