Annual Black Hills Meat Fest raised money for kids in need

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Hundreds gathered inside of Harley Davidson today for the First Annual Black Hills Meat Fest hosted by Naja Shriners.

The event was a fundraiser for Naja Shriner patients who are currently undergoing medical care and are in need of financial assistance.

Beef, pork, turkeys, hams and Dimock Cheese products were the main ticket grabbers. Organizers took on a module popular on the East, meat raffles.

“Meat raffles are very popular back east like Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and we brought it out to South Dakota so that people at the holiday season have a chance to win some meat, fill up their freezer,” said Naja Shriners board member Rick Holloway.

Many sponsors and local farm producers joined forces to make the Meat Fest possible and the turnout was better than expected.

“This has exceeded our expectations, yeah. We brought in over a ton of meat for this and we’re almost out, and so yeah this totally met our expectations and we hope it gets bigger every year,” continued Rick.

All proceeds will also be used to help Shriners fund a kids camp for patients.  The Meat Fest will continue to be once a year, but Naja Shriners will host smaller events throughout the year to continue raising money for the kids who desperately need it.
