ArtForms Gallery, which is a little gallery in downtown Hill City, offers a hybrid location where people can both view creative pieces and purchase it.
“The gallery is a local art co-op. There’s 24 artists in here,” Pete Stach, of ArtForms Gallery, explains. “All of us are local artists; All of us make our stuff locally. And it’s been a wonderful asset to this community that we try and make art that’s affordable, but yet is being done in very good taste. You can get a good feel of it when you walk in here and you walk around and you see the stuff that is being sold and made and the other artists that are in here, they’re wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. So, we all enjoy this. It’s a work of love as much as this is a work of art and you know, the things that happen here. We meet people from all over the country in here during the summer months. We’re here and we’re open for people to come in and enjoy as much as anything. We call it a gallery because, yeah, we’ll sell it to you, but it’s there for you to enjoy too.”
Every item in the gallery is handmade and all unique. Things that you will probably not find anywhere else.
Stach says, “No, I don’t put my stuff out anywhere else in the country, and I could if I wanted to. But no, it’s just it’s good. It’s peaceful work for me, and I think it is for most everybody in here. There is a lot of the old things that have kind of come back into vogue and we do it better in some ways, but it’s still traditionally made here. So we’re kind of on the southern end of Main Street and we’re in a place called the Old World Plaza.”
The gallery is like a treasure in Hill City and it gives artists a chance to display their work.
“It is. We considered a treasure because it’s unique. I mean, you won’t find most of this stuff. You won’t find hardly anywhere else.” Stach says.
