SPEARFISH, S.D. — Beef as a quality protein was the topic of discussion Wednesday night at Black Hills State University.
The campus hosted “Build Your Base,” a sports nutrition program utilizing beef as its premier protein.
Among those at the event were two U.S. Olympic athletes: Deanna Price, who holds the American record in the hammer throw, and Payton Otterdahl, who just competed in the shot-put in Tokyo.
“Being athletes at such an elite level, we know how important it is to get quality nutrients into our body. So both Deanna and I, being strength athletes, protein is hugely important to us,” Otterdahl said. “And the best protein that has the most protein most vitamins, minerals, is beef.”
“Build Your Base” is a joint effort between the South Dakota Beef Council and Sanford Health.
