Did you know that you can rent costumes from the Black Hills Community Theatre?
Chris Lee, Black Hills Community Theatre costume shop manager, described dozens of costumes to choose from.
“Well, these are pretty much all the costumes we’ve used in our previous productions,” said Lee. “Some things have been donated to us, which is nice, so we haven’t had the opportunity to use them yet, but we do rent them for Halloween. The majority of the costumes are period costumes— that means that it’s different eras, so we have like men’s medieval, Elizabethan and 18th century and also Victorian. The same goes for women. We do have some character costumes like Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. And we have a Willy Wonka costume also. We have some animal costumes, and we also have ethnic costumes. So, like Japanese, Spanish, that kind of thing.”
According to Lee, the costume shop is equipped with staff to help patrons accessorize their costumes.
Renting a costume from Black Hills Community Theatre also helps offset the cost of the production year, since the theatre company is a non-profit organization.
