Black Hills Federal Credit Union holds annual “Shred Day”

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Black Hills Federal Credit Union held it’s eighteenth annual Shred Day for its members today at its N. Plaza location.

The event, which was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, was a big turnout.

Members brought shred-able items ranging from a few personal documents like bank statements and tax forms — all the way up to boxes full of papers, all which were destroyed by A to Z Shredding.

Members were also able to dispose of hard drives at the site – all free of charge.

BHFCU officials say the event provide them a great opportunity to thank their members.

“It’s for our membership,” said Heidi Bulman, the Community Development Officer for Black Hills Federal Credit Union. “We have about 80,000 and more members for black hills federal credit union, so it’s something we offer to them as a service to say ‘thank you’ for being a part of our family and we do our part.”

Bulman says the large turnout — some lining up an hour before the event — is the biggest she’s in her time with credit union.
