RAPID CITY, S.D. — This year is the 12th annual Black Hills Film Festival and the first-ever virtual event.
There will be two ticket options for viewing: an all access pass to watch all 57 independent films, or individual pass ranging from short programs, documentaries, animation, South Dakota-made, and Native American films.
There are also free online seminars sessions and discussions, like ‘How to Make a Low-Budget Film.’
There is something to enjoy for the whole family.
Egija Hartmane-Salem, Secretary of the Black Hills Film Festival, says, “They have to be creative, they have to dig really deep inside into creativity and make those films happen so it’s always nice since there’s a lot of story tellers out there and they just want to tell their story and it’s always very, very interesting how it all comes together.”
The viewing begins Thursday, Feb.18 – Feb. 25.

Salem says, “I think those are unique films that you wouldn’t see anywhere else, you wouldn’t see them in your big screens, you wouldn’t see them in your tv. So, it’s also a celebration of independent film makers, really, it’s like a festival.”
