RAPID CITY, S.D. — Speaking of puppies and pets, you might have a seen a young man in a Boy Scout uniform at Petco, Petsmart and Sam’s Club over the past few weeks.
His name is Keegan Colby, he’s a senior at Central High School and he’s doing service to become an Eagle Scout.
For the past few weeks, Colby has been collecting needed items like toys and food for the Black Hills Humane Society.
It’s part of his project that teaches him the ins and outs of leadership while having him put the donation event together.
“It really is kind of a trial by fire to learn the more detailed parts of leadership. So I’ve learned how to gather people to a project into a cause and learn how to train them to an extent,” Colby said.
Even though he’s finished collecting the items, Keegan says you can always stop by and donate to the humane society.
