RAPID CITY, S.D. — Jeffery Dale is a retired military man and attended the naval photo intelligence school.
During his time in the military, he was able to travel to many different countries and his new book displays 105 images from around the world.
A portion of the books proceeds will go to the South Dakota State Railroad Museum in Hill City.
The book titled, “KYRKJE OF… An Unorthodox Translation of “Church” in Photographs,” discusses many aspects of what went into the creating of the photos, with thoughts on why the images brought contemplation and introspection to the photographer.
Dale says, “The book covers photography from many different genres, many different locations, several of the pages do cover railroads. I want people to look at the images and contemplate what they see in the images, they actually take the time in this crazy world to think about what you are viewing, take your time.”
Dale will have a book signing Saturday, Feb. 13 from 10 to noon at the Journey Museum in Rapid City and again from 2-4 p.m. at the Heart of the Hills Antiques in Hill City.
Dale adds, “To me photography is a very personal experience, a lot of folks take pictures and it’s a quick thing with their phone or they are doing selfies and so forth, when I take pictures, I like to take my time at it, I like to contemplate what I am shooting – the conditions, the lightning and really take time doing it.”
