Bowling tournament raises money to put coats on children in need

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City community members hit the bowling lanes on Saturday, but for a good cause.

At the ninth annual Knights of Columbus Coats For Kids Bowling Tournament, members of the community raised money to put coats on the backs of children in need.

That can prove vital, especially with the weather that we’ve gotten over the past week.

The bowling tournament helped raise money to give coats the Black Hill’s Children’s Home, which helps kids who, according to the children’s home, have most likely went through some sort of trauma.

“They’ll have good days and some tough days,” said Theresa Schreiner, the Development and Events Manager for the Black Hills Children’s Home. “So we tell them on those tough days to remember that the coats will not only keep them warm on the outside, but all of the love and prayers that come with the coats will keep them warm on the inside.”

The goal was to raise $5,000 for the event.
