RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Central States Fair has just announced big plans for their 75th anniversary this year.
The Grandstand lineup will include Travis Tritt, Joe Nichols, Kip Moore and Michael Ray.
Fairgoers will also get to enjoy a car show, which is expected to showcase 150 from local dealerships and the return of The PRCA Xtreme Broncs Finals. They also added an extra day of rodeo slack to accommodate the number of contestants expected.
John Kaiser, Operations Manager for The Central States Fair, says the fair really made it a point to include safety protocols in the planning to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“Normally we would sell passes, week-long passes of VIP premiere and grandstands and we’re not doing that this year just to be able to track numbers better,” Kaiser said. “So everything is individually ticketed. Each events’ got its own individual tickets. We did reduce the cost of those, but again just to help us keep track of our numbers to allow people to socially distance themselves if they choose to from everybody else that’s there.”
Kaiser says The Carnival was also paramount in keeping patrons safe by providing the fair with a COVID-19 plan which includes regular cleaning.
The fair is set to begin on August 21 and run through August 30.
