RAPID CITY, S.D. — Friday’s the day for the 2021 Children’s Miracle Network Mediathon.
The fundraiser through the Monument Health Foundation raises money for children’s medical miracles.
100% of donations to Children’s Miracle Network at Monument Health stay local to fund critical treatments, health care services, and pediatric medical equipment.
Last year, the Mediathon raised a little over $80,000 – and this year, they hope to surpass that number.
Equipment comes in all shapes, sizes, and prices.
“That is one of the big parts of my job is that I help with equipment purchases our capital equipment and minor equipment that we need everyday to take care of our babies and give them our best care possible, and we are just really lucky here that we have Children’s Miracle Network,” said Nan Fitzgerald, Nurse Manager – NICU, Monument Health Rapid City Hospital. “They purchase a lot of equipment in the NICU and you can see around us we have open warmer beds, we have isolettes – they also purchase a lot of other things for us. This year they just approved to purchase all new NIC view cameras. This NIC view cameras allow the parents to see their babies when they are not here at the hospital if they are at home but also allows other family members to see their baby.”
“During the broadcast our announcers will be announcing ways to give, we have the online option of course…we have a link right there you can give through Mediathon,” said Shawn Powers, Development Coordinator, CMN.
This is the 13th year for the Mediathon – an all-day broadcast in hospital lobby, talking to CMN families and sharing their stores.
The funds are critical to making a difference in the lives of many babies children and families.
