RAPID CITY, S.D. — South Dakota Mines students and faculty assisted the Cornerstone Rescue Mission on Saturday by distributing meals.
Meals were given to the homeless and anyone in need at Cornerstone’s location on Main Street in Rapid City.
Usually the mission gives out about 300 to 400 meals a year but this Christmas was a little less.
But on a special day like Christmas, the season of giving, a simple gesture like this is something not taken for granted by the Mission who appreciates its support from organizations all over the city.
“Christmas is all about giving and the School of Mines and Technology has a phenomenal history of giving to the Mission, and there are several other organizations that do too, and not only is it, just it’s a feel good thing and I think people really learn to appreciate what they have when they can give, so it’s just all what the spirit of the season is all about,” said Lysa Allison, the Executive Director of the Cornerstone Rescue Mission.
Allison says that the Mission is grateful to everyone that donates food and their time to give back.
