Hill City is the home of a fun specialty ice cream shop owned by Stephanie Weyer.
Weyer tells how the shop got started. “We were looking for something easier to do for retirement, and Greg was researching and found a gentleman that he really liked that made ice cream. And we went to an ice cream convention knowing absolutely nothing. Purchased a machine by accident. The rest is history. I’ve always liked to cook and be creative and so I do the recipes and all the recipes come from here, and that’s how it got started.”
Cream features all natural colors and flavors in their ice cream. Weyer explains, “We have a supplier that does all of our colors, all of our flavors. So if it’s a pink ice cream, it’s colored with beet juice. If it’s a purple ice cream, colored with purple carrot. And the flavors, again, are all natural. There’s no crazy artificial stuff. We put as much good stuff in that as we could possibly get.”
Featuring up to 40 different flavors, Cream sports fun and creative names for their ice cream such as Robert Brownie Junior, Peashooter Hound Dog and Sam Elliot’s mustache.
Weyer is hoping that Sam Elliot will make an appearance and try his inspired ice cream. She says that her and her kids are the ones that come up with the unique names. “My kids and I, we started it a couple of years ago, and we would sit around and think about hilarious names that we can make for ice cream. And it just it kind of continues.”
Cream also has an option of an ice cream flight on their menu for the customers who may be a little indecisive. Weyer describes the Mount Rushmore, “We have our scooped ice cream. You can get four flavors or four half scoops so total of two scoops. Not a huge amount. But if you’re indecisive, you got four to choose from. We top it was a little piece of our homemade waffle cone. It’s perfect.”
Additionally, Cream offers cones and ice cream in a dish. The waffle cones are made fresh every day. Weyer adds, “We have the traditional cake cone. And then in a cup, we also make homemade hot fudge and hot caramel and things like that to go on the ice cream. And we do a thing called the mookie. Our mookies, are homemade cookie sandwiches with whatever ice cream we choose. So they’re about a pound of yum yum.”
Cream offers a large 12 foot picnic table for family seating. Cream is open Monday through Saturday from 12:00pm to 7:00pm.
