Crimeaholics Podcast hosts set out to help the families of victims

RAPID CITY, S.D. — What started as a school project for Kenzi Durbin, ended up a wild success.

Kenzie and Holly’s Crimeaholics Podcast is six months in the making and recently placed #28 on the the Hot 50 list for Podcast Magazine.

Both women go to school and attained degrees in criminal justice. Their passions are championing the efforts for victims and their families.

“In the beginning, we really started out like every true crime podcast,” said Crimeaholics Podcast Co-Host, Kenzie Durbin. “You find a story online, you research it and you tell about it. And then the more growth we have gotten, we realized that we need to use the platform for a purpose. “

Every Monday they feature a missing persons segment, keeping their names on people’s minds. They’re taking advantage of the large size audience and tackling cases that have been forgotten or not talked about.

The cases are based anywhere in the world. They find them with internet research and focus on cases of all circumstance.

Some highly publicized, some not, some solved as well as the unsolved. They are hoping their voice can help find justice.

“No matter if they’re substance abuse or alcohol abuse, they are still a human being that has family that loves them, has friends that love them, and people that care about them and that is what should matter,” said Crimeaholics Podcast Co-host Holly Allen.

They sometimes add more content to the podcast by looking into additional evidence when available and speaking to the victim’s families.

“I firmly believe that nobody is ever going to tell their loved one’s story and their situation better than anybody but them, and so I feel that it’s really good for our listeners to hear from the families themselves,” says Durbin.

Their goal is to reach more people to bring more awareness to victims of crime.
