Nate Stiefvater, Partner, WR Hospitality, describes the experience you can expect when dining at Dakotah Steakhouse in Rapid City.
“This restaurant was designed with a upscale theme with a focus on local flavors, upscale dining, and a flavor of the Dakota territory. 11 years ago, Phil Lamphert and Associates and Peg and Ed thought that Rapid City was lacking in upscale dining choices, including a locally owned steakhouse as opposed to a franchise. And they decided to bring Dakotah Steakhouse to the table and encompass a lot of the history of South Dakota and the food we serve and the food we like to eat. The building itself is loaded with Midwestern artwork and different sculptures and several mounts of buffalo- moose and deer. It pretty much just consumes the whole Black Hills vibe in the ranching and farming culture. And overall, it’s a beautiful restaurant, and they were trying to give the South Dakota experience to the people that come here to visit us.”
What can you expect on the menu at Dakotah Steakhouse? Stiefvater says, “Well, we say steak house. So we’re looking we’re looking at a cowboy cut French bone ribeyes, rack of lamb, dry aged rib eyes, walleye and chislic along some kuchin for dessert.”
When you first arrive at Dakotah Steakhouse, you will notice the John Lopez sculpture. “It’s eye catching and it’s completely in your face. And it is exactly how you want to start your experience.”
Dakotah Steakhouse also offers their own branded wine. “The feature cocktails here are focused with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, as well as a very nice selection of high end wines that it will accompany your bone in ribeye or your prime rib.”
Stiefvater says that Dakotah Steakhouse is in somewhat of a transition right now. “We recently acquired this from Lamphert and Associates and Peg, and we’re hoping to continue the fine dining tradition that that Phil and Peggy started here and continue to provide Rapid City with a upscale steakhouse in an authentic Dakota environment.”
