Luke Krueger, Owner of the Deep Wellness Center, talks about what is offered at his center.
“We offer flotation therapy, massage therapy, contrast therapy, and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. Flotation therapy is just a foot of water and there’s 1500 pounds of Epsom salt in the water. That makes you float right on top and it’s skin temperature, it’s light proofed and soundproofed. So you get in there and relax. Let everything go. And what’s so unique about it, there’s nothing to be tense against. After you relax for a while, you tend to notice where your tensions are. Even psychological tensions, mainly physical tensions, and letting those go is very fascinating.”
Contrast therapy is also offered at Deep Wellness Center. Krueger says that it is also known as Fire and Ice. He explains how this therapy works.
“We’ve got a traditional sauna, so all cedar in there and you can pour water on the rocks for steam if you like, but it’s a dry sauna. And right outside of the sauna is an ice bath. So you go back and forth between the temperature extremes. There’s also a double shower in there. So you rinse off after the sauna and get in the cold water and then get out and just enjoy the cold feeling for a while, which sounds kind of uncomfortable, but it feels amazing. Getting in is hard, but when you get out, you just feel so good. It does a lot for you physiologically. The expansion and contraction of all of your tissues is great. It cycles blood through all your tissues…gives you a cardiovascular exercise without doing any work.”
In addition to flotation therapy and contrast therapy, Deep Wellness Center also features pulsed electromagnetic field therapy.
Krueger explains, “At Deep we put together our favorite modalities and technologies that we enjoy and have solid science behind them so we can do a deep dive on the benefits of PMF, it’s called. But really what it is, we’ve got a pad under a massage table for the whole body. And then we have focused accessories and it sends pulses of energy into your body that charges the voltage on each individual cell. So when our cells have enough energy, they can do all the things they need to do and it can help with a wide variety of ailments.”
Although some may consider these methods as alternative therapies, Krueger reassures, “Yeah, you know, sauna is one of the oldest ways to get well. Also, floating is basically a really deep meditation that’s kind of an assisted meditation. You know, people who have an issue with meditating for ten, 15 minutes will get in and float 75 minutes straight. Yeah. So there’s a lot of benefit with that. And so I call those traditional therapies instead of alternatives.”
Krueger also says, “One of the clearest benefits of floating is for chronic pain, especially of back and shoulders. There’s people who float for pain management. We also have a lot of people who float for the meditative aspect of it. It’s really interesting when there’s nothing going on, nothing to focus on, nothing to distract us. Often I find my best ideas come about from there when I’m not thinking about anything, and it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s the solution. I’ve been seeking.”
