RAPID CITY, S.D. — Volunteers of America was overwhelmed with support and gratitude to the Rapid City community this past Diaper Needs Awareness Week.
The final number totaled over 9,300 diapers donated. Other supplies such as wipes were also donated in large quantities, going to members of the community in great need.
Diaper Needs Awareness Week runs from September 27 to October 3.
During the week, the mayor made a formal proclamation for the fifth year in a row recognizing the week in Rapid City and speaking on the importance of making sure struggling families with young children need these supplies.
Supplies were collected at five locations across the city: City Hall, Main Street Fire Station 1, Public Safety Building, Home Brew Coffee Shop and Mommy’s Closet.
Although Diaper Needs Awareness Week has ended, members of the community can still donate supplies to Mommy’s Closet at Volunteers of America. Information on donations can be found here: www.voanr.org/diapers
