CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Friday before Memorial Day is known as “Don’t Fry Day.”
If you are one of the many Americans hitting the beach or spending time outside this holiday weekend, here are some tips to make sure you protect your skin.
Experts with the Cleveland Clinic say you should apply one ounce of sunscreen to cover your whole body – that is the amount in a shot glass.
They say one eight-ounce bottle should last a family of four one day at the beach, and that includes two applications per person.
If you using a spray sunscreen, make sure you apply it in a ventilated area and do two or three passes until you have a good, shiny coat – and then rub it.
Don’t forget, sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours and also after sweating, swimming, or toweling off.
