Ellsworth B-1s returning to Guam for Bomber Task Force operation

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, HAWAII — Four Ellsworth Air Force Base B-1B Lancers have returned to Andersen Air Force Base, located in Guam, for Bomber Task Force Operations on September 10.

The Bombers from the 34th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron at Ellsworth were deployed to help in the training of Pacific Air Forces along with allies, partners and joint forces which included deterrent missions that support to reinforce the rules-based international order in the region.

Before arriving in Guam , two B-1s combined with forces of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force fighters to partake in escort training in the Sea of Japan. The other two B-1s were deployed to Andersen AFB.

“This Bomber Task Force deployment, part of the dynamic force employment strategy, showcases our unwavering commitment to security and stability in the Indo-Pacific while also demonstrating our ability to provide combat power – anywhere, anytime,” said Col. David Doss, 28th Bomb Wing commander.

Across the globe, Bomber Task Force operations are routinely conducted by the U.S. Strategic Command in order to demonstrate the U.S.’s commitment to collective defense and to integrate with geographic combatant command operations and activities.

The B-1s were last hosted by Andersen AFB in July and August 2020, when the bombers from the 37th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron conducted multiple sequenced bilateral missions.
