STURGIS, S.D. – Festival of Trees was thrown a curve ball after 26 years, but the show for a good cause must go on. The non-profit partnered with KBHB radio and auctioned Christmas tree and decorations live on air. Due to the closing of the lobby of First Interstate Bank where the event usually takes place, items were scattered throughout several businesses in Sturgis where interested parties could take a look. Organizers say the pandemic may have taken their location but cannot eradicate the long-reaching cause of the mission.
“One of our main charities is hospice and then we also support the FIB Greater Sturgis Area Fund which is a charitable fund that supports everything in Sturgis from food pantry to the senior citizens to the crisis center to so many non-profits” said volunteer Rosemary Roth.
For those who could not participate in the live auction but are still interested in donating, donations can be brought to the First Interstate Bank in Sturgis. Roth says any donation, big or small, makes a profound difference.
