First Interstate Bank serving community through service projects during “Volunteer Day”

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Members of a local bank have come together to better service their community.

Employees of First Interstate Bank gathered at Minneluzahan Senior Center in Rapid City to aid in landscaping and painting. The service project was apart of the Third Annual Volunteer Day in which the employees set out to assist non-profit organizations in the effort to eliminate poverty.

“Throughout our footprint, we’re doing a lot of virtual financial education,” said Ingrid Reuter, an Administrative Assistant with First Interstate Bank. “We’re working in small groups, we’re making sure to maintain social distance and right now it’s more important that ever to give back to our communities.”

All 150 branches across six states closed at noon on Wednesday, September 9 while paying their employees to serve in their communities and cease the spread of COVID-19.

In total, the bank helped in more than nine separate service projects with organizations including the senior center, Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity and Feeding South Dakota.
