This season, innovative girls are offering a number of ways consumers can purchase Girl Scout Cookies with safety at top of mind while still learning valuable entrepreneurship skills.
You can even surprise someone with the treats to be delivered to their house.
Girl Scouts are setting up contactless drive-through locations, running virtual cookie booths on social media, setting up socially distant cookie booths and marketing their business with door hangers.
The program means much more than the value of a sweet treat, the girls are learning many skills with lessons in entrepreneurship, leadership and marketing. The girls learn how to set goals and connect with their customers.
Stacey Andernacht, Communications Manager for Girl Scouts Dakota Horizon, says, “So what digital cookie does is it allows a girl to set up a private web store where she can put a picture or video of herself- share about why she is sharing cookies and what she is going to use the proceeds for and then the really cool thing is then she has a marketing plan.”
All the proceeds stay local. The cookie season runs through March 22.
“There’s a lot of energy around the cookie program, I mean everybody waits a year for their favorite cookie no matter what it is and you know, just thinking outside of the box, the things that this cookie program makes possible for our girl scouts is really incredible,” adds Andernacht.
