RAPID CITY, S.D. — Congressman Dusty Johnson was in Rapid City Monday honoring two Vietnam War Veterans at the Fountain Springs Health Care Center.
Ted Big Crow served in the Marines and Harry Parkhurst served in both the Army and the Navy. Both men made multiple trips to serve overseas.
Monday’s ceremony was in partnership with the Vietnam War Commemoration – thanking veterans and presenting them with a Vietnam Veteran lapel pin. Johnson says it’s the lease he could do to offer thanks, given that so many vets did not have a warm homecoming.
“This is an opportunity for our country to try to do better and look those veterans in the eyes, shake their hand, and say a grateful nation thanks and honors your service,” said Johnson.
The pin both men received is inscribed with that phrase, “A grateful nation thanks and honors you.”
