HILL CITY, S.D. — A boost for scholarships in Hill City, as the Granite Sports 12th Annual Run for the Rangers 3-mile run or walk took place on Sunday.
The run starts at Granite Sports on Main Street and weaves 3-miles through the city ending at the school. All of the proceeds from the run go to fund scholarships for Hill City High School Track Team athletes.
“The kids that are seniors and in track get an automatic $500 scholarship to wherever they go,” Said Pat Wiederholder, Owner of Granite Sports. “Then all of the rest of the money that we raise goes to the Hill City Scholarship Foundation.”
Last year, the Hill City Scholarship Foundation gave out twelve $500 scholarships while Granite Sports awarded nine.
