PORCUPINE, S.D. — A household of Lakota sport designers and artists have partnered with Thunder Valley Neighborhood Improvement Company to launch a brand new Lakota language app.
The app will characteristic dozens of tales in Lakota, learn by Lakota elders and member of the neighborhood.
“Most of our language studying instruments usually are not carried out by Lakota individuals, and so what makes us actually distinctive is that it’s all Lakota made,” says Kellee Brewer, co-director of the Thunder Valley Youth Improvement Initiative.
Thunder Valley says it’s a significant step ahead for the Lakota language revitalization motion and can permit youngsters to attach with their tradition.
The app has taken years to develop and was born out of childhood reminiscences.
“The app has been derived from his – from the Lu brothers – tales of rising up with their grandmother,” Brewer provides.
The app will launch on March 3 with college students from throughout the reservation touring to Thunder Valley to check the sport.
Brewer says there might be extra such apps sooner or later targeted round Lakota tradition.
