Helpline Center of the Black Hills to host virtual volunteer expo

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Helpline Center of the Black Hills will be showcasing ways to give in the volunteer connections communities.

Anyone can follow along on social media and the website as they will be sharing stories and features of volunteer connections. The database searches hundreds of volunteer opportunities that will meet specific criteria.

During the pandemic, there is a high demand for volunteers in food response, like Meals on Wheels and Feeding South Dakota.

“There are so many organizations that have virtual ways to connect as well from being an online instructor with Love Inc, for their Life Inc., classes,” said Audrey Nordine, the Program Coordinator of the Black Hills Helpline Center. “There’s just some really cool things like that. Organizations are getting creative to still engage the community in the work that they are doing.”

Helpline Center volunteer connections support nonprofit leaders in managing their volunteers, providing tools, resources and training to better your program and expertise.

“We did some spotlights with non-profits in different areas because we serve three different communities through volunteer connections, just talk with them a little bit more about what they need for volunteers, what it means to volunteer with them – truly just their needs as an organization,” Nordine said.
