RAPID CITY, S.D. — The annual Hero’s Skate Event brought first responders, law enforcement, members of the military and all their families together for a free glide on the ice at Main Street Square.
It stemmed from a tradition four years ago and has grown to provide the fun for heroes during the pandemic like medical workers.
And as we’ve seen, not all heroes wear capes.
“It was people dressed up as superheroes and now it just hits home a little bit different because of everything that’s going on in the world and its society,” said Domico Rodriguez, the President & CEO of Main Street Square. “There’s true heroes here in the community, and we just want to honor those that don’t wear their own capes.”
Rodriguez says if you missed the fun, you can take advantage of many events throughout the year, including two for one Tuesdays.
