HILL CITY, S.D. — For women looking for a weekend away from it all, Hill City has got you covered.
It is the 8th annual Girlfriends Weekend in Hill City, and organizers say the event is more vital than ever this year, and that women need girlfriends in their life. From wife and mother, to professional, women have a number of roles they take on everyday, and the pandemic has only added to the responsibilities.
“Our social aspect from work got diminished, because we started working from home,” said organizer Lorena Freis. “We became full-time school teachers, because the kids are home again, we’re home again for virtual learning. And so, sometimes it’s just difficult to not have that constant support.”
Girlfriends Weekend will be a great time for women to get away from the day to day grind, and hang out with their best gal-pals. Some women also opt to bring their daughters as another way to bond. Similar to events in the Black Hills over the summer, Girlfriends weekend is expected to be a hit. Local businesses will have specials and activities for visitors throughout the weekend.
Among events, there will be a fashion show on Friday night, a hypnotizing comedy show on Saturday, and a Sunday brunch with motivational speaker Dr. Helen Usera.
