RAPID CITY, S.D. — Outside In- Children’s Indoor Playground is helping to take the education burden off parents and offering the ‘Homework Helpers’ Program when school resumes this year.
The program is designed for workmen parents who are opting to do the virtual learning option for their children in K through Fourth grade in the Rapid City School District. Homework Helpers is limited to 40 students so that proper social distancing can be in place.
An elementary educator will be on hand to help facilitate the online learning.
“We really felt like there was a need for a program to help students keep on task during the day with an educator and we just hope it serves the needs for the families here,” said Taryn Pike, the Owner of Outside In – Children’s Indoor Playground.
The hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with full and part-time drop-offs available. Registration is open until August 18.
Students bring their own lunch with two dry snacks provided.
While students are attending their classrooms virtually, the Certified Educators will facilitate by assisting students in navigating tech platforms, answering questions in actual coursework and facilitating breaks.
The owners initial hope was to find a grant or program to further subsidize parent’s cost, but until then, costs include
Full-time 7:30-3:30pm M-F = $550/month or
Part-time 7:30-3:30PM 2x week = $350/month.
