Java Moon, a staple in downtown Sheridan, WY, was originally opened in 1997. Megan Cook, owner of the coffee shop, bought Java Moon in December 2021.
Cook describes the shop, “It’s where people gather to have coffee with friends, to have business meetings. We have a full bakery, we have the coffee shop, and then we also have some really great breakfast and lunch sandwiches. We are known for our monster cookies.”
Everything is made in house for the bakery and Cook says that their most popular item is the monster cookies that are as big as your head. They also are famous for their moon pies.
Cook says, “So, a moon pie is cake and then it has like a whipped cream in the middle, and then it’s covered with either chocolate or lemon ganache, and then we put pretty sprinkles on it. So you can’t go wrong with that one.”
Java Moon has more to offer. They offer a wide variety of drinks and they also added ice cream to their menu.
Cook continues, “And then we just added to our menu an Affogato, which is vanilla ice cream, with two shots of espresso over it, which is super yummy because the ice cream melts a little bit and you get your coffee and cream in one.”
Java Moon is also known for its coffee.
Cook says, “Our coffee, we use a company called H.S. Roasters out of Laramie. They have won many awards for their coffee, and we’re really proud of our coffee. We offer three different roasts so you can get light, darker, medium roast as a drip coffee. And then our espresso is exceptionally good.”
