RAPID CITY, S.D. — Not quite the weather organizers were hoping for, but the Fall Festival at the Jolly Lane Greenhouse went on as planned.
Families gathered to partake in a day filled with fun activities, among which a favorite, pumpkin painting, the riding of tractors and marshmallow roasting. The horse-drawn wagon rides were a no-go this year due to the adverse weather.
Owner of Jolly Lane Greenhouse, Tim Sime, says snow in the middle of October made room for some confusion.
“When the snowflakes were coming down this morning it felt like more of a Christmas open house than a fall festival, but hey, it’s been a great day,” said Tim.
Most of the activities were free to all along with live entertainment.
A variety of pumpkins were available for the taking, just in time for Halloween.
