The kitchen at the Piedmont Elementary School provides meals for children so they can go to class with full stomachs.
When do they serve food?
Kitchen staff starts prepping breakfast at 6 a.m., and then they start serving breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Breakfast is served until 7:35 a.m. and then they start prepping for the day’s meal. Lunch starts at 10:50 a.m. and lasts until 12:45 p.m.
What food is served?
Corn dogs, hot dogs, tacos, spaghetti, lasagna, chicken and breakfast for lunch.
All of the meals are healthy, they strive to serve kids with the special food allergies like gluten free children and diabetic children. Every child gets fed according to their allergies.
Where does the food come from?
Some of this food comes from farmers markets, and they’ve gotten items like watermelons, cantaloupes, sweet corn and cherry tomatoes.
How many kids do they serve?
Typically, 320 to 350 kids are served a day.
