Knights of Columbus distribute turkey dinners for Thanksgiving

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The parking lot of St. Thomas More High School was transformed into a turkey dinner drive through this day.

With COVID precautions in place, the Knights of Columbus got creative with its annual turkey dinners.

For the first time the dine-in option was scrapped, so volunteers packaged hundreds of turkey dinners that were distributed curbside at St. Thomas More. Once the lot was opened, it was off to the races.

The Knights of Columbus’ dinner draws hundreds of people every year, but they weren’t sure how the format change would be received.

“We just opened our line and the traffic is backed up and it’s flowing and it’s wonderful, it’s wonderful to see the good turn out,” said Knights of Columbus member, Fred Berendse.

Volunteers prepared about 650 dinners.

This is the 38th consecutive year the Knights of Columbus have hosted a dinner on Thanksgiving.
