RAPID CITY, S.D. — Developers, legislators and all those in between were at the Ascent Innovation Center Friday to discuss solutions to the housing crisis in the area.
The construction companies around the area, along with contractors and developers are coming up with solutions for a population of about 7,000 with the arrival of the B-21 Raider.
Senator John Thune, as well as other local legislators talking through concerns, like work force issues and supply fluctuations.
As the B-21’s arrival approaches, Thune says that everyone will have a job to do as the housing shortage is sorted out.
“There were really several issues that came out of this but I think more than anything else, what we’re going to have to do is focus like a laser on this housing issue and on the infrastructure that comes with it to make sure that we can accommodate the increased need that we’re going to have as people move in,” Thune said.
Legislators are set to have a formal meeting on July 14 at 1 p.m. to discuss funding options to help with the housing shortage.
