RAPID CITY, S.D. — It’s no secret that kids have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
That’s why The Chamber Music Festival of Black Hills wants to help out children with their latest project, “Riders on the Storm”.
In Art Alley on Tuesday night, children from The General Beadle Discovery Program designed a mural in collaboration with Barefoot Dance Studio. The project serves as an artistic outlet for kids but also as a key backdrop for a multi-media video project that will take place on the stage of The Performing Arts Center in Rapid City. It will air on August 7 on The Chamber Music Festival of Black Hills website.
A South Dakota artist, Mark Zimmerman, was able to lend the kids a hand when it came to the mural.
The need to keep children interactive is important, but it’s equally vital to do it in a way that keeps the children safe.
“We’re taking our responsibility very seriously,” said Michael Hill, the Executive Director of the Chamber Music Festival of the Black Hills. “We’re giving them the opportunity to do it safely and do it in a productive manner where it has a positive impact. This is very important to us.”
The event will run again at Art Alley, at 6 p.m. until 7:40 p.m.
