RAPID CITY, S.D. — RISE Furnishing and Décor is a business and ministry that sells upscale, gently-used furniture and home décor.
Love Inc. participants put in sweat equity by refurbishing furniture – which then goes up for sale – while they are getting things they need to furnish a home.
Thrive is an all seasons adventure gear store that provides a work environment for youth to learn employment skills.
The stores will follow the seasons, so right now they are offering Christmas and winter themes.
The grand opening of both stores will be this Saturday, December 5 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
“Two really different concepts – but they are both kind of integrated into the work we do to help people. A lot of the furnishings that are at RISE are just beautiful pieces that have been restored from donations that we have received and were worked on by our participants and volunteers,” said John Ligtenberg, Executive Director of Love Inc. “Then at Thrive we have a bike shop and apparel, so that store is creating a fun environment for youth to learn employment mentoring.”
The new Love Inc. building was made possible by many volunteers and community partners, and is located at 414 East Omaha St. in Rapid City.
Ligtenberg adds, “The idea on both of these stores is just that they will be self-sustaining, and by being open and helping we are not only making money to keep the work going, but we are also impacting lives as we do it.”
The hours for Thrive Adventure Gear is Wed-Fri 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sat 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
RISE is open Saturdays.
Proceeds from both stores will go towards supporting the work of Love Inc. further.
Love Inc. is always accepting donations of adventure gear, home décor, and furniture.
