Owners Julie and Rob Mahaffey experienced a child who was born prematurely and was put in the NICU. Twelve years later, the Mahaffey’s are showing their appreciation of the experience they received at the hospital and want to give back.
“You never forget those people and now that she’s twelve, you’re like ‘what can we do, this came up’; and as much as it’s absolutely ridiculous that I say this, I wish that we could take our yearly sales and give it to them,” said Julie Mahaffey, co-owner of Mary’s Mountain Cookies.
Monument Health says donations are critical to help offset other costs associated with the NICU.
“Things like this take on kind of an extra level of importance for us, and really has kept our Children’s Miracle Network program going, these fund-raisers; such as what Mary’s Mountain Cookies is doing in the month of January,” said Shawn Powers, the Program Manager for Children’s Miracle Network for Monument Health.
The cookie drive includes sales from not only chocolate chip cookies, but also M&M and s’mores cookies.
