RAPID CITY, S.D. — A bill that would allocate roughly $5 million in state funds to build a shooting facility in Meade County has been voted down at the Legislative session in Pierre.
In the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee on Tuesday, House Bill 1049 was struck down by a vote of eight to five, tabling the legislation.
Those in favor of the bill cited the opportunity for competitive and public shooting.
Some that live in the area near the proposed range expressed their concerns about it being located next to ranches, additional vehicle traffic and roach maintenance and other safety concerns.
