RAPID CITY, S.D. — Ten months after the groundbreaking, the Monument Area is starting to take shape.
Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Executive Director Craig Baltzer says with the favorable summer weather, crews have kept progress on track, and their hard work is noticeable with the height of facility starting to be seen; and the rakers to support the stadium seating being installed.
But before the large cranes leave the site, the steel trussing to support the roof needs to be installed which should be going up in late fall.
“It won’t be completely roofed in and sealed weather resistant until march,” Baltzer said. “But you’re going to see the shape of it and everything coming together as we get later into the fall and winter.”
Baltzer says the project is on schedule and on budget for completion by the fall of 2021.
