RAPID CITY, S.D. — Monument Health is partnering with Vibra Healthcare to build a new specialty hospital in Rapid City.
The facility, which will include a therapy garden outside, will be located at the corner of Catron and Highway 16 next to where the new V.A. clinic will be built.
It will have transition rooms for patients to get back into real life situations, offering a greater number of services to more patients, which will help in their return home.
Dr. Kelly Stacy, Executive Medical Director with Monument Health Rapid City, says, “These are people that need extensive rehab and therapy from like physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and then we also have a recreation therapist. This new facility will allow our therapists to give our patients as much care as they need and deserve.”
Monument Health’s existing rehabilitation hospital, now located at the Village at Skyline Pines Assisted Living and Memory Care, will move to the new facility when construction is complete.
Mark Longacre, V.P. of Operations Monument Health Rapid City, says, “We realized that we are currently sitting in a rehabilitation hospital that is a little bit smaller than what we need; we have additional services that we can run and we feel some great opportunities. So the entire project was really based on the need to care for the communities with the long term care acute hospital as well as our new rehabilitation hospital. “
The Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills will have 36 rehabilitation beds, as well as 18 long-term acute care beds.
Construction on the 55,000-square foot hospital is expected to begin in the Fall of 2021.
