MOUNT RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL, S.D. — For the first time since 2018, people will become American citizens in a ceremony at Mount Rushmore.
The U.S. District Court for South Dakota will hold a naturalization ceremony for around 50 people Monday, June 21 at 11 a.m.
Along with the Ellsworth Honor Guard, representatives of the U.S. District Court for South Dakota, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will be in attendance. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken will preside and give remarks, and Mount Rushmore Superintendent Michelle Wheatley, Mount Rushmore Society President Aaron Galloway, and USCIS District 32 Director David M. Douglas will make presentations.
The public is invited to attend the celebration, which is free. There is a $10 fee per car to park.
Following the ceremony, Pennington County Auditor Cindy Mohler will hold voter registration on the Grand View Terrace for all eligible South Dakota voters.
