RAPID CITY, S.D. — G&P SD Indoor Skate Park is a new facility in Rapid City that combines sports and faith. Located at 411 E Watts Lane, the goal is to provide a safe place for kids year-round while also teaching them about the Bible.
G&P SD Indoor Skate Park is a safe, sober, year-round indoor park for skateboarders and rollerbladers. G and P stands for grace and peace and is a place where skaters can come and learn about the Bible in an environment that is open and honest. They already have one location in Colorado Springs and wanted to spread their positive message to South Dakota.
Derrick Unrein, Founder of G&P SD Indoor Skate Park, said, “Really we saw the impact that it had on the community in Colorado Springs. And we knew that this is an awesome, active, outdoor, really great community that could benefit from having a year round warm indoor skate park. And you know, could get more kids involved.”
One of the things that makes G and P unique is that it is more than just a skate park, and they want to teach kids that there is more to life than skating.
‘There is God, there is a spiritual element of this life, and we want to introduce people to Jesus. Introduce them to the Bible but put it in a way that they can understand and comprehend. A way that makes sense for them that’s what makes G&P unique is that it’s more than a skate park. It’s a church it’s a community center its a youth center it’s just a hub for people. A place for relationships, a place for friendship,” said Unrein.
Derrick went on to say, “We really believe this is just the start, we hope to move into a larger facility down the road. So we would love to be able to have a bigger space you know down the road where we can get anything on wheels. Bikes, scooters, skateboarders, rollerbladers and we can do much more, but this is a great start.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 10 to 12 individuals are allowed into the park at a time.
