CUSTER, S.D. — Randy Niles has been named Associate Director of Black Hills Playhouse. Niles, a University of South Dakota graduate and Playhouse alum, now has a busy schedule ahead of him.
His position holds the primary responsibility of business operations, physical plant improvements, and working with the Artistic Director, Dan Workman, to develop and carry out a full season of professional stock theater at Custer State Park. Additionally, Niles will work with Game, Fish and Parks on supervising repairs and maintenance, as well as a executing a plan for future improvements to the campus.
Since November of 2019, Niles has worked as the staff liaison to the Physical Plant Committee, co-chaired a committee for a new virtual 5K run called the ‘BHP Run Crew,’ served as the liaison to the Custer Arts Council, acted as a direct assistant to the Executive Director, and functioned in numerous other capacities.
Niles will continue to expand the scope of his work, both administratively and programmatically, to create a strong foundation for the Playhouse as he looks forward to an increasing committee and community work throughout the Black Hills area, strengthening local relationships and partnerships, and affirming the historical value of the Black Hills Playhouse.
The 2021 season will bring special challenges, as the Black Hills Playhouse creates a new outdoor performing space that will include socially-distanced seating in an open-air setting, called The New Frontier Theatre.
